Ware Boat Festival
I dont like to guess just how many times how many times people have asked us where we are heading for next? Ware, I reply and fast as a shot the response is Where?
Well we can finally change the record, because Ware has been and gone. We have travelled a long way south from Birmingham covering the Oxford Canal and River Thames to reach London and then crossed the city to the East End where we joined the Lee Navigation which brought is to sunny Ware in Hertfordshire.
The Ware Boat Festival is mainly a local event, attracting boats from the Lee and Stort Navigations with just a handful of us "outsiders" who have come to see what its like on the eastern side of London. The event is linked to the one day Ware Festival which covers the nearby recreation field and from our perspective being the only floating trader boat was a huge plus.
At times it felt like the whole world was walking up and down the towpath and loads stopped to taste and buy our wares (pun not intended). Sales were verging on the frantic and, in a relatively short trading day we had one of our most successful events. We left the stall open for the Sunday as well, picking up a good level of sales as we wound down from Saturday's frenetic activity.
Now it's back to travelling north to rejoin the fetsival circuit in the Milton Keynes area, but we have a few days spare to linger in London and do a bit of the tourist thing.
