Wildside talks
Wild Side has developed an interesting sideline over the winter months - talks.

It came about by accident when a friend who happened to be the social secretary for the Aldridge Women's Institute approached us to see if we would do a talk about our lives aboard the Jam Butty and our preserve making activities. Why not, we thought, little realising how this strand of the business would develop.

We prepared a presentation which tells our story, and rather to our surprise it went down a storm. What is more, because everyone loves preserves, we were asked to take along a selection for the members to buy. Why not?

Well, it turns out that there are lots of "friendship groups" in the community and they all need speakers for their gatherings. Word spread and before we knew it we had a talk booked for most months between October and March, which makes a useful sideline during the winter. Whats more its something we can do together and we really enjoy the experience. I guess that comes across.

But then comes the question: "Do you do any other talks, because we would like you to come back please?" We could hardly refuse but what to talk about. After a bit of thought we decided to try and share some aspects of the inland waterways which we love so much, and ended up with our second talk "The Seven Wonders of the Waterways - the places, the people and the events".

I guess it was fitting that the first outing for this new 60 minute pesentation was to the Aldridge Womens Institute and we were relieved at all the positive feedback we recieved.
